About Biocides

biocides

This time of year is ideal for hard surface cleaning and softwashing. Many will be preparing their gardens/areas they manage for the spring and summer months to come, making sure that they are looking their best and are hazard free. The presence of algae and other biofilms on surfaces such as patios or timber decking not only look unattractive, but they are also a safety risk. These growths can easily become slippery if left which could result in falls from anyone entering the area. In order to manage these issues we would recommend that they are dealt with before the area becomes regularly used. It is essential that you have the right products to treat these issues. ProWashing has you covered.

After leaving the EU many changes regarding legislation and guidance on products such as biocides occurred and following on from recent BPR guideline changes, many products lost their classifications as biocides with the HSE. Thankfully all of our products including the market leader, AlgoClear, have all remained registered with the HSE. It is important that when you are choosing your biocide that it is registered as if it is not then it wouldn’t be legal to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do biocides contain bleach?
A. The biocides that ProWashing supply do not contain bleach. The large majority of the products we carry contain DDAC which, when applied to hard surfaces, will not cause any staining or damage.

Q. What conditions should I apply softwashing solutions in?
A. It is advised that although the product can be used all year round, results may be affected if rain occurs within 24 hours or temperatures are below 8 degrees Celsius.

Q. What is best to apply softwashing biocides with?
A. At ProWashing we have a wide range of different equipment that are perfect for applying softwashing biocides such as AlgoClear or Mac Hi Power.
